Blissfully Organic

WHY IT IS GOOD TO EAT ORGANICALLY GROWN FOOD

The USDA certifies foods grown organically that have met rigid standards for their production. Organic certification is the public’s assurance that products have been grown and handled according to strict procedures without persistent toxic chemicals. Reducing pesticide use and minimizing agriculture’s impact on the environment are a key impetus. Many EPA-approved pesticides were registered long before extensive research linked these chemicals to cancer and other diseases. Organic agriculture is one way to prevent any more of these chemicals from getting into the air, earth and water that sustain us. Organic means that there will be less toxic chemicals in the soil our children play in as well as in the water and foods they drink and eat.

Organic farming works in harmony with nature by respecting the balance demanded of a healthy ecosystem. Wildlife is encouraged by including forage crops in rotation. Building healthy soils is essential for the food chain and this is a major focus for organic agriculture. This done together with getting rid of polluting chemicals and nitrogen leaching protects and conserves our water sources.

Good organic balance farming produces strong, healthy plants allowing just the natural nourishing flavor to come through.
